24.11.05

Well for those of you who don't already know I am heading over to the coast with my family today for the holiday, I promise to take pics and update when I get back. And oh ya I got this for my birthday.

21.11.05

Finally got my pics back from Fred Meyer's and I will say I will never go there again, for the price they charge you should be able to see the results and they straight up screwed over a couple of my pics, so no more of my film will go to them. The picks are all on my flicker site, click HERE to go.

Invite

Going to Vinny's tomorrow night @ 7pm for my birthday, you are all invited to come if you want, but please let me know so we can figure it all out.

20.11.05

Learned my first bar cord today, it kills, but will help a lot in the long run I am told.

Epic

No I am not talking about the song by faith no more, I am talking about the best day I have had in recent memory.(Yes even better then the Hot Hot Weeze Fighters) More on that later though as I will start at the beginning of the trip and work forward in time. So on Friday morning I drove the 5 1/2 hours up to the beautiful town of Sandy, Or. (Just past Boring, Or. on Hwy 26) to attended a friends wedding, but this was to be no normal wedding this was to be a YWAM wedding with almost half of the people in attendance and both the Groom and the Bride being fresh out of leading a AW80D DTS(Around the World in 80 Days discipleship Training Program, one of the more amazing DTS's out there if I do say so myself but also one of the more challengeing). This would make the wedding more than just a wedding and coupling of two amazing people who love each other very much but it would also become a reunion of sorts for all those attending from YWAM as we all grew very close during the 6 months we lived together.

One of the girls from my school who now lives in Alaska was visiting her best friend who is currently attending school at SOU and wanted to drive up with me if possible, I told her that would be great and she said cool cause my friend wants to come also. This would mean the three of us would drive up together and then she would fly home after from Portland while me and her friend Jen would make the drive home together. So not only would I not have to pay for gas on my own but would also have someone to talk to and what not. I was a little wary of this situation at first due to the fact I had never met Jen before and now we were going to be stuck in the car together alone for 5 1/2 hours on the way home, turns out I had nothing to fear as Jen is a great girl who shares many things in common with me and wants to go to the next concert, whoever it is, with the C.C.O. (Concert Crew of Oregon, if you are wearing a yellow bracelet as you read this you are part of the C.C.O., congrats!)

So after the long drive and search fro our cabin in the dark we got to the Mt. Hood Village and checked in, then raced back into Sandy for the rehearsal dinner (think free food). Most of the YWAMer's were there and it was absolutely great to see every one again. It was raining super hard that night all night long and I was praying for snow in the mountains. Proof that God does listen, the next morning I awoke at 6:30am and got dressing in the dark, jumped in the car and started the drive up to Mt. Hood Meadows. This was the start to an EPIC day that would only get better and better as time went on. The further I drove up Hwy 26 the more I started to realized just how much snow they had gotten the night before, I never did hear an official report though heard everything from 6-14 inches overnight and it was still snowing. The day was a great one to say the least as this was my first day back on my board in over 20 months, that's a long time for some one who dreams not about flying but about riding and floating across the face of mountains larger than any ever seen by human eyes.

At 12:30 I was back in the car and flying down the road to get back and changed in time to get to the 2pm wedding in Sandy. I did make it on time though I was still wearing my long johns and wool socks under my suit(This was it's first official time out of the bag sense I got it in Thailand and I can say I am very happy with my purchase). The wedding was beautiful and I couldn't but help to hope that God is preparing someone for me even as you read this. The reception was a bit boring but fortunately the YWAMer's were there to let loose and have a good time. At the end of the night after a rousing game of volley ball in the pool with a giant aerobics ball that resulted in almost dropping a ceiling light into the pool via a spinning fan and a long soak in the hot tub, we all went back to the cabins and stated up talking, singing, and having a blast till late in the night.

The next morning my car and all occupants were back in Gresham to drop of those leaving out of Portland and the long drive back was began. Again thanks to Jen and all of her great conversation and general kick-assness you made the trip much easier for me. YWAMer's stay strong in love and life.

Only nine days and counting till the big two decade mark so what are you getting me, here are some ideas, and no I don't actually expect you to get me something unless you really want to and then I wont complain about it if you do. WISH LIST

11.11.05

Quick update, I would make it a longer but it is 12:30am and I am tired. Thanks to Erin for all the help on the six string, yes folks I have been learning guitar for almost a week now and my fingers simply feel like they are going to fall off, Erin says grin and bear it. I am driving up to Mt. Hood this weekend for a wedding but will be taking along my board and stuff just in case I get a chance to run up to the mountain for a couple of hours or so. I am taking the guitar and trying to learn a new song. I will right more on all of this and the trip when I get back so for now here is a cool pic of me and the girl that is getting married she made the flower lea for me. This is on my birthday almost a year ago... Wow I just realized I have not cut my hair in over a year, scary...

In awe

Christchurch Cathedral
Originally uploaded by prex.
It used to be that when you went into a church you were in awe at the architechture and beauty of your surroundings. If you ever get the chance to go to an older town where they still have a real cathedral around from back when we cared what our churches looked like, please do your self a favor and go in. These builds are amazing, carved out of stone and raised with lumber so big even Mark McGuire couldn't swing them. The churches of old were built not only in a functional matter but were also built as tributes to the God people came to praise. There were/are pieces of art dedicated to the Creator. It might of taken a whole life time to complete the masterpiece but when it was done even if the original designer and many of his workers had passed on the building was perfect and they lived on through there work.

Why don't we do this anymore? Churches today, mine included, are built in warehouses and empty fields. They are designed to look like industrial buildings, barns, and over sized ranch homes. Were is the craftmanship and dedication of years past. The cathedrals of old were the crowning achievements of the builders that worked on them, why can't we build to the same standard. While I don't believe much of that which the Mormon church puts out I will give them this, they do build damn good building's that draw attention to them selves and draw people to worship God in there own way. I believe the church as a building should reflect if only in part the glory of the Lord and be a place that simply by being direct worship to the heavens. The building of such structures, I believe to be an act of worship in it's self. Lets bring back the beauty and awe that we have lost.

Fashion God? I think not... This clown continues to provide ammo for the press corps even after he is done killing people in the dirty south. Though I do kind like his tie.

The Anointing

This is something I just wrote tonight and thought I would share, maybe it is something someone out there needs to hear maybe not, take it how it is uncut and fresh off the presses:

Inside a thing lies in wait hoping you will find it one day.
To figure it out is to know yourself and so much more.

Everyone has it, a bud just waiting and wanting to bloom.
Looking for room to grow and become more than ever before.

It wants you, all of you, not just part or what is left in the end.
Only the best will do to fuel the furnace of your soul.
The source of all you are and all you will be.

You feel it at times beating at it's cage wanting to run free.
But you are afraid that it's not time, that you can't keep up,
that if you let it out you'll never be the same again.

And it's true, the anointing on you is true, true to who you are to be.

Good night ya'll-Preston
